Advent Giving Project

As we prepare for Advent, we invite you to consider giving above your regular offering to our 2023 Advent Giving Project. All gifts will be divided between two focus areas as outlined below. If more than $40,000 is received, the extra funds will be given to The Bridge.

2023 Projects

Local Missions – The Bridge
Goal: $30,000

This year we want to invest into local missions by partnering with The Bridge. We hope to raise $30,000 to help fund their efforts to reach the inner city of Saskatoon! For over 20 years The Bridge has been building relationships with people in the inner city and inviting them to experience transformation in Jesus Christ.

Christmas Lunch at The Bridge – Dec. 21

The Bridge will be hosting a Christmas Dinner from 11:00am-2:00pm to celebrate the true reason for the Christmas season. At this dinner the Bridge staff share the gospel and show the love of Jesus to those who need it most! Some of the ways they do this is by serving meals at tables, giving out gifts, and having staff sit and engage with each visitor.

In order to pull off the event, they are in need of donated food and gift items. Additionally, they are in need of volunteers leading up to the event to pack the gifts.

Email volunteer@thebridgesaskatoon.com or phone 306.382.2855 if you would like to volunteer at the event.

Global Missions – Matthew Training Centre
Goal: $10,000

The Matthew Training Centre (MTC) is a long time partner of Forest Grove Church. MTC focuses on preparing Latino and North American young adults for cross-cultural service in Guadalajara, Mexico. Participants are equipped through classroom teaching, and practical service and experience with indigenous people groups. Their team also leads spiritual retreats for pastors, workers, and church leaders for the purpose of drawing closer to God.

This year’s project is to build an outdoor teaching shelter where students can gather in the shade to learn and grow together. The cost of the materials is estimated at $10,000 plus potential labour costs.

FGCC is currently considering sending a team to help build the centre and cover some of the labour costs. Whether you have building skills, or not, if you are interested in visiting MTC with a team from our church in Spring 2024 (likely around Easter) please talk to Pastor Kevin (kevin@forestgrovecc.com).
