Our prayers need to include all the thoughts found in Jesus’ prayer in Matthew 6. It begins with a focus on God, His kingdom and purpose. From there we begin to petition God for our needs – bread, both physical and spiritual, forgiveness from God and to others, victory over temptation and freedom from the power of the evil one.
This week we are being encouraged to take a day or a meal to fast and pray. Taking a break from food, if you can, draws us closer to seeing our own heart and its desires. When we see these and face them in the power of the Spirit, God helps us and guides us to seek and follow His purposes. Take time this week to fast and pray – listen for God’s voice to you from Scripture and Spirit.
