Children’s Pastor

About Us:
We are a growing church of all generations affiliated with the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. On any given Sunday approximately 700 people gather together for corporate worship at our church campus. We serve between 200-250 within our children’s programs and believe that every child is deeply loved by God and called into His redemptive story. Our desire is to raise a generation of Christ-followers who know Jesus, love the church, and live on mission. The vision of our church is to be, “a covenant community pursuing the life-changing power of Jesus Christ and sharing his Good News from the river to the ends of the earth.”  Aligning with our vision, we are seeking a passionate and visionary Children’s Pastor to lead and shepherd our children’ ministry from Nursery through to Grade 5.

Position Summary:
The Children’s Pastor will oversee all aspects of our children’s ministry programming on Sunday morning, Wednesday nights, and other special events. This leader will recruit, train, and equip a dynamic volunteer team, partner with families, and champion the spiritual formation of children through the lens of our values:

This role requires a blend of pastoral heart, leadership skills, and a passion for discipleship that embraces both the child and the family.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership in the development of Children’s Ministries, ensuring alignment with the overall vision and direction of FGCC
  • Provide overall leadership for children’s ministry from Nursery to Grade 5
  • Develop and implement engaging, biblically sound programming for Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and empower a team of over 100 volunteers and leaders
  • Integrate children into the life of the wider church through intergenerational opportunities
  • Champion the values of Forest Grove in every aspect of ministry
  • Collaborate with church staff and leadership in fulfilling the church’s overall vision

Desired Qualifications:

  • A mature, growing disciple of Jesus Christ.
  • A sense of call from God
  • A specific giftedness to work with the younger generations.
  • A love for the church and God’s kingdom work
  • Strong relational, discipling and team building skills
  • A post-secondary degree in related field of study is desired.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in related field.
  • An ability to work within the context of the FGCC pastoral team and the vision of the church as a whole.
  • In agreement with the MB Confession of Faith.
  • Credentialed or able to be credentialed with the MB Conference
