Below is a Story of Transformation from Lori Peters. Lori is one of our long term local partners, and also leads an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) LIFEtime class each Sunday.
We have had a great year in the English Class this year. After the second week of class, a group of four ladies approached and asked if we could study the Bible together. That led to a weekly Bible study with from 4-10 people depending on the week. We have been studying foundations for faith and everyone has learned many new things about the Bible and have built meaningful relationships. Many of our students have visited the service and enjoyed the worship and have commented on the joy that they have seen through the worship. It has been so wonderful to walk alongside and answer different questions that people have and also to serve and help with practical needs that the students have faced in transitioning to life in Saskatoon.
Please pray for our students to keep growing in their English language and for them to experience God’s love through all the teachers. It has been fun to see the class grow, we have over 25 people who have attended over this year. As a class we have had a chance to build memories together having a Christmas party, the first time for many to eat turkey and after a lesson on BBQ, camping and picnics, the class asked for a BBQ to experience the fun of a typical Canadian summer activity with friends and family.
As we have studied this year the growth that students have experienced and the new members that have joined our class could make it possible to split into two classes in the upcoming year to better help both the beginners and the more advanced students to take steps forward in their language. Pray for God to continue to raise up volunteers to help our friends grow in their language abilities.
We have had amazing teachers and volunteers, including some Chinese high school students. It has been a great year! Thanks to everyone for their dedication and hard work!
