Truth and Reconciliation Commission Response Proposal

I’m inviting you to join a meeting on Sunday, May 30 at 4pm, to discuss our proposed response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) report. This proposal is being brought forward by council, after considerable work by many people. We are excited to see how God will use this initiative through the years ahead, for His glory and the work of reconciliation that we’re all called to as followers of Jesus. Our goal is to vote on this proposal at our June 6th congregations meeting.

On January 23, 2020, we gathered a group of many former and current leaders from our church to pray, discern and discuss what we’ve heard from our church over the years, about how we might mobilize the financial resources from the sale of our land at Attridge, for a 100X kingdom impact. Some of the big themes coming out of that time have been mobilized already. Besides paying off our mortgage, we have done similar financial disbursements toward facility upgrades, tech infrastructure, and what we called an ‘Initial Blessing’ to many organizations. Each of these were approximately $200,000, similar to the attached TRC proposal, which was another strong theme from that evening.

The goal of this project is the development of long term relationships and establishing some enduring work of reconciliation that is done with a humble posture and collaborative, respectful approach. We are excited to present this proposal to you, to pray, discern, and act, together. Please join us on May 30th!
